Greetings from the wilderness!
In honor of the Christmas holiday this week, I am going to keep this week's letter brief.
I am so grateful for the gift of beauty and how it can heal our weary souls. With everything I've been processing since Mexico, God knew I would need to be surrounded by beauty to keep me from going into the pit of despair.

I have been so grateful to have spent the last two weeks hibernating in my friend Debbie's house in Cherry Creek, Denver. She has a beautiful home overlooking the Denver Botanic Gardens, one of my favorite places in Colorado. This time of year, the dry and seemingly lifeless winter garden is transformed into a magical land of light—the brilliant arrays of the multi-hued flowers of spring are replaced with an abundance of colorful Christmas lights and art installations.
My family and I brave the cold to wander through the Blossoms of Lights display every year, armed with heavy coats and hot chocolate. Immanuel's Christmas blessing for me was continuing this tradition with my family this year, of all years. The fact that I get to do so while sleeping above the colorful lights of my favorite gardens every night is a God-sized blessing.
I have much to share with you in the new year, but until then, my prayer for all of us is that we experience Immanuel, God IN us, in fresh new ways this Christmas—Blessings of God's Presence us all. Merry Christmas!
