Get to Know Loto (loh-toh)
Spanish for lotus, these flowers grow out of the mud in dirty water and swamps. They open their petals with the rays of the sunlight and close their petals at sunset. In Eastern cultures, it is held as a symbol of purity, enlightenment, righteousness, and rebirth, meaning sacred. The lotus flower is a symbol of resurrection.
“It’s our daily, seemingly insignificant decisions that eventually sculpt our characters and harden them into stone or free them into flourishing.”—John Mark Comer
Welcome to Loto Wellness Collective!
We are a lifestyle company deeply rooted in our faith in and love of Jesus Christ. Through our signature programming, Loto Wellness Collective curates beautiful experiences of contemplation to enlighten seekers on their healing journeys— walking in The Way of Jesus towards flourishing.
Many people feel a constant state of depletion, with little emotional, physical, or spiritual margin for our families, friends, careers, or personal well-being; unaware that we are sleepwalking through life on auto-pilot. This is not living; it’s surviving.
In a time of immense collective societal stress and a lack of safe places to heal, Loto Wellness hosts experiences of the inner sanctuary to heal in intimate communion with YHWH, receive Jesus’ rest, and develop deeper connections with creation, ourselves, and each other.
But Loto Wellness Collective is more than just a lifestyle company; it’s a community of awakened souls who have accepted God’s invitation into the renewing of their minds (Metanoia—the process of experiencing a "breakdown" and subsequent, positive psychological re-building or "healing") and are seeking a trauma-aware community for fellowship.
Through artistic vision and spiritual wisdom, we curate beautifully designed content and host sacred spaces for integrative mind-body-soul care, which we call Physio Divina. From somatic healing workshops and sound baths to book clubs, art therapy, and retreats, each contemplative experience is designed to help you practice being present with the Presence of God, engaging your mind, body, and spirit—so you can flourish.
You were meant to thrive!
“A voice of one calling in the wilderness: “Prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God.” —Isaiah 40:3 NIV
Meet Jennifer Axcell—Founder & Champion of Rest for Loto Wellness Collective & Editor-in-Chief of Loto Living magazine
Experience Designer, Content Creator & Recovering Workaholic
My journey of recovery from burnout—mind, body, spirit—required me to craft a self-care practice of rest and refilling, significantly changing the way I live my life. Jesus taught me a lot about Him and myself through that process.
I began to invite others into these rituals because my heart longed to be surrounded by other awakened people who understand that vulnerability is the path to Love, a strength and not a weakness. I wanted to share the beauty of healing that is possible in trauma-aware communities of brave seekers who no longer dim their light for other people’s comfort; those who want to practice showing up unapologetically in the fullness of their authentic selves.
The Lord told me to enlarge the place of my tent (Isaiah 54), to dream big, and to make room for the multitude because He was using the global pandemic to usher us into an awakening from the darkness of fear. God is calling humankind back into The Way of Jesus, abiding in Him, to heal—Humanity heals, and the world heals.
Thus, Loto Wellness Collective was born and I began my transformation into a modern day Desert Mother.
At Loto Wellness Collective, we believe that a healthy self-care practice benefits us and everyone in our lives and is a basic need for every human. Learn more in the latest issue of Loto Living magazine.
All too often, self-care is misunderstood as selfish. As a result, we self-abandon by giving unhealthy amounts of ourselves away, neglecting care for our own minds, bodies, and souls (sometimes our most basic of needs go unmet). This lack of healthy boundaries is often a people-pleasing trauma response that results in our chronic outpouring from the proverbial empty cup. In our attempts to be everything to everyone, we forget the importance of putting our own oxygen masks on first before helping others.
Even amidst the hectic demands of a growing ministry, Jesus modeled restful self-care by regularly seeking silence and solitude time with God:
“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.”— Mark 1:35 NIV
Developing a restful self-care practice is about making time in solitude to refill our cups and have God breathe life into our weary bodies, minds, and spirits. However that practice looks for each of our unique needs, self-care in general can mean:
Taking care of our own thoughts, and our own feelings, and not projecting them onto others.
Replenishing our resources without depleting someone else’s.
Building strength and ensuring we can be sustained in order to care for others.
Setting healthy boundaries so that we don’t expend all of our energy taking care of others and forgetting ourselves.
Enabling us to live out of our greatest potential for Christ, discover our purpose, and experience joy.
Accepting His invitation to rest.
